This is truly an amazing innovation in modern dentistry, which is only found at the current time in a select few dental offices.
We have state of the art technology to prepare real porcelain fillings and crowns computer designed and fabricated in the office in one visit. The name of this system is CEREC 3D technology and works as follows. The decay in the tooth is removed preserving all possible natural enamel. A digital picture is made of the tooth and sent to a high-speed computer where Dr. Silberman edits the image. This information is sent wirelessly to a robotic milling machine, which in ten to eighteen minutes produces an accurate well fitting and esthetic restoration. The benefits are:

- Only the damaged or missing parts of a tooth are replaced unlike a traditional crown which sacrifices healthy enamel

A scientific study has compared Cerec restorations to all other material used to repair teeth and found on the average that over the first two years of service (that is the time period used in this study) Cerec fillings had a lower failure rate than any material including gold fillings.
